KryllOS 0.5.45 update: long or short? Futures are here!

A support level gives way, a downtrend starts taking shape, and you spot a short setup worth testing. With KryllOS 0.5.45, you can finally build it. Futures are now part of the app, so you can create long and short strategies and use leverage.

That’s the headline addition in this version. You can build these strategies in the editor and see how they behave against historical market data. Companion apps are also easier to work with, while new features help protect access to your installation.

Futures take shape in the editor

The previously locked Futures section now includes three new blocks: Long, Short, and Close. Position direction becomes part of the strategy you build. Whether you have a bullish idea or a bearish setup in mind, you can build around it and define your entry and exit rules.

More accurate backtests, with liquidations you can inspect

With futures, you can backtest long and short strategies with leverage. Liquidations are simulated during the backtest: when a position is liquidated, it closes in full. You can find the event in the backtest logs to see when it happened and examine the conditions surrounding it.

Backtests also gain precision through more accurate triggering of the Crossover and AND blocks. Performance metrics benefit from the same work: win rate is calculated per position cycle, and the equity curve and maximum drawdown calculations have been improved. These changes give you more accurate measures for analyzing how your strategies behave.

Improved companion apps, now with the Terminal

Companion apps let you open an app in its own window and arrange your workspace however you like. The Terminal now joins them, so you can give it a separate window and put it wherever it works best for you.

Existing companion apps have also received substantial reliability improvements. The chart and backtest results stay linked to their editor, including after a reconnect. When you restart KryllOS, your open windows and tabs are restored. The Terminal also keeps its session through a dropped connection or a quick app restart.

Back up your profile from the start

Self-hosting KryllOS means staying in control of your installation and how you access it. That independence comes with a simple habit worth building early: keeping your key safe. Backing up your profile file is an essential step in safeguarding that access.

Version 0.5.45 helps you remember. The app reminds you to back up your profile after installation, then at most once a day. Take that opportunity to keep a copy of your profile somewhere safe.

A lock for when you step away

Step away for a coffee and KryllOS can now lock automatically. You can protect access to the app with a passcode and even use Apple’s Touch ID to unlock it.
